Hi there,
I’m not sure why your theme would matter at all, but the Give Manager role does have some limited Admin privileges which is why it redirects to the WP-Admin.
The best way to customize the Capabilities of the Give Manager role is with this plugin:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/user-role-editor/
Additionally, you can also setup custom Login redirects with this plugin:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/peters-login-redirect/
Thanks!
Hello,
Thanks for your reply, and sorry if my explanation wasn’t clear. The problem isn’t that Give Managers are being redirected to WP-Admin, it’s that they cannot get to WP-Admin. They enter their username and password on wp-login.php but then are redirected to the home page of the website, with no admin toolbar at the top. If they type the path to wp-admin in the browser bar, they’re still dropped back on the home page. No warnings, no error messages, just unable to access anything other than the front end.
And now it’s happening for all three Give roles, Worker, Accountant, and Manager. Switching to Twenty Fifteen fixes it, which is why I think it’s a conflict with my theme. I know that’s not your problem, I just thought I’d ask in case someone else had reported something similar. Thanks again.
Hmm… that is very odd. I would still install the User Role Editor and go to one of the users that is being affected by that issue, and see what capabilities they have. Perhaps the theme is doing some strange things to their capabilities (though… that wouldn’t change by changing themes).
Additionally, each individual user has a setting in the Profile that enables/disables their Admin toolbar. You can also test by installing this plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/user-switching/ — you can switch to be that user dynamically and check their Profile settings and everything without having to get or change their password at all.
Would love to hear what you find and if there’s something we can do on our end at all. Thanks!
