• I have two WordPress blogs hosted on my domain (using Yahoo) and I can’t log in to either of their dashboards. The pages just “spin” forever and then usually end in “500 Internal Server Error.” I can occasionally get to the login page and then to my main dashboard, but trying to update fails every time.

I am not particularly well-versed in any of the software or scripts that “make blog go,” so I’m at a loss for what to do. I tried resetting my browser to no avail. I’m not even sure if this problem lives on the WordPress side or on Yahoo’s. Help!

if it’s a 500 error then that’s on the server side and you need to contact your web host for support.

as for the intermittent access to the dashboard and difficulty upgrading it all sounds like a server issue.

Thanks, I’ve got an email out to them too. This isn’t the first time my site’s had trouble loading, but it is the first time since I started using WordPress. Thought it was better to check all arenas.

i’d recommend getting different hosting from a company that’s a dedicated hosting company rather than a company that is providing hosting as an addon service to what they really do (whatever yahoo really do these days…)

Probably a good call, but the idea of migrating 8+ years of “stuff” to another hosting site makes me shudder. I looked into AWS and GoogleApps a year or so ago, and the amount of work involved shut me down. I blog for fun, not profit, so adding a bunch of admin duties would be counterproductive. Looking at my support history, the last time I had this problem was in 2008, so I think I can deal for a day or two every 6 years if it means I have to do basically nothing the rest of the time. 🙂
