Hi everyone. I'm sorry to bother but two days ago I was logged into my website via wordpress and had gone into "settings" to change the original URL from http://www.literary-artist.com to http://www.PaulCenteno.com and after I saved the changes I was automatically logged out.

Since then, I haven't been able to log into my website to make updates. I don't even know why I was logged out in the first place. I clicked "lost your password?" even though I didn't forget just to reset the password, then I entered my email so it could tell me how to reset it, and yet I still did not receive any emails. I don't know what to do. Can someone please help me?

  2. Huh. That's weird.

For me www.paulcenteno.com resolves to while www.literary-artist.com resolves to but the http://literary-artist.com/ is displaying your site even though the name resolves to a different IP.

When I visit http://www.paulcenteno.com/ I get sent to http://literary-artist.com/ and all the generated URLs inside the page source refer to http://www.paulcenteno.com/

I think you may want to switch back the Site URL and WordPress address. Give this a read:

Personally I think you may want to use this option.

If you do go that route then make a backup of your theme's functions.php file and make the top of that file look like so:

Once that's done see if you can log into http://literary-artist.com/wp-admin/

Hi Jan, thank you for your help, but the problem is that as soon as I made that change it logged me out and I cannot log back in. There is no way for me to get back to my settings. Every time I go to my log in page and enter my username and password it just blanks out. I don't understand why it won't let me log back in.

Sometimes it takes me to a blank page that says "Your request timed out. Please retry the request." But 90% of the time after I enter my username and password, I stay on the login page except what I typed vanishes.

Oh, and I'm not sure if this matters, but a web designer made the website for me. I can't get in contact with him. I think all the files are on his server. I've never had anything on my pc. Man, I can't believe all this is happening because I accidently typed something in my settings. I'm really panicking here. :-(

You didn't read that link I posted did you? Access to the WordPress dashboard is not required to make those changes. :)

You can edit that by modifying your theme's functions.php file using FTP or whatever file management tool your host provides you with to

    - retrieve a copy of that file and save an unaltered backup copy somewhere.

    - Make the alteration described above.

    - Replace the /home/content/83/8563583/html/wp-content/themes/paulcenteno/functions.php file with the edited one.

After that see if you can log into your installation via the WordPress dashboard.

If you can then you can restore the original backup copy.

I'm really sorry Jan, but I don't understand what you're saying. I have no idea what .php is, and I've never used FTP before. I just paid a web designer to make a website for me and I update it with blogs. I don't have any files on my pc. He made the website on his server about a year ago. I don't know what "theme's function" means or anything. I don't know why this is happening. It makes no sense why I can't log into my dashboard. :-(

Oh man, I am so happy. I called godaddy and they helped me over the phone to fix the problem. I'm sorry for panicking. Jan, thank you so much for taking the time to help me. I am so glad I can update my blog again, hehe.

  9. I'm glad you sorted it out. :)
