I have updated to the latest version of WordPress and was in the process of typing another post. The next day, I was timed out and after trying to log in again, found that I could not do it. The log-in page simply keeps refreshing. No error message, nothing... Just refreshes to the same page over and over again.

After browsing the forum, I saw this was not uncommon. I've tried all of the solutions here:

    And those I browsed here:

This last link describes my problem exactly. As you can guess, it is extremely frustrating spending time attempting each of these solutions only to have the same problem. Is there anyone that could help. The site is richardauvil.com Any advice is greatly appreciated. Many, many thanks.

    Have you tried:

    - checking through Troubleshooting WordPress 3.1 - Master List

    - switching to the Twenty Ten theme by renaming your current theme's folder in wp-content/themes using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides. You may need to try logging into your site to get this to kick in fully.

    - resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

    - re-uploading all files & folders - except the wp-content folder - from a fresh download of WordPress.

Still no luck unfortunately.... Again, I tried everything, I really thought replacing all the files and folders with a fresh version of WordPress downloaded from the site would work, but the same problem persists. Anytime I log-in the log-in page just keeps refreshing. The other items were unsuccessful as well. I reset the plugins as suggested in your link, but I've also tried to do it a few different ways that I found in this support forum.

Any other possible glitches that could be causing this? Many thanks esmi for your reply, it was nice to have some hope again for the time being. Maybe there is still someone out there familiar with this problem?

Also, if this additional information helps:

While trying the above, I also tried to log in before replacing the plugins folder at all. I still had the same problem, the log in page simply kept refreshing. This was before there was even any plugins folder in place. The same thing happens when there is a deactivated plugins folder, or with the original plugins folder. Many thanks for any additional ideas anyone can provide.
