    Hi,

I have related posts featuring at the bottom of my home page and on products categorized under “for him”. I can’t for the life of me recall where I saw the check boxes to decide where I want to include related posts.

I have the short code [products limit=”8″ columns=”4″ category= ”Men’s Pleasure Toys”] but this shortcode is not posted on “for him” products and nothing has been added to their respective wp page in your wc section below in wp editor.

I’m using GeneratePress but you cannot customize category’s for related products here.

Please kindly advise where the related posts section is located on left wp dashboard menu?

    Thanks.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi there,

Related Posts and Related Products are potentially two different things, and while they could be added via plugins, they could also be hard-coded into your theme’s template files. Here are a few directions to head in:

Related Products can be configured on a per-product basis. This doc will walk you through how to implement them, and when followed in reverse will undo them:
    https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/related-products-up-sells-and-cross-sells/

It’s also possible to remove that type of output completely by way of code snippets, which is explained in more detail here:
    https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/remove-related-posts-output/

For good measure, here’s one way how Related Posts could be added in the case where you might have Jetpack installed:
    https://jetpack.com/support/related-posts/

I hope that gets you going in the right direction.

    Thanks EastofWest,

My apologies – I wasn’t clear – yes, Related Products not Related Posts was referring to which you addressed.

    1. There are no linked products set up on each product that appears under “for him” category. But I think my question is answered here:

“These products cannot be specified in the admin, but can be influenced by grouping similar products in the same category or by using the same tags.”

As I only have one product currently listed under product category “for her” there are no other products to draw on?

    2. Will explore, thanks but no need to remove at mo.

    3. The related posts plugin looks a good alternative to special recent posts plugin – cheers.

So – just the shortcode remains a mystery

    [products limit=”8″ columns=”4″ category= ”Men’s Pleasure Toys”]

Weirdly I can’t see a category “men’s pleasure toys” which I have in the past created. Only “for him” in products-category and nothing in post-category.

Perhaps you may be able to shed light on this – i’ll keep digging my end.

    Thanks.

Further to the related product query – is it possible to instead of having “Visit product” in the button on the related products WC has fetched and placed on homepage using the shortcode – that instead it has “Read review” and you can then click through to the product review on the site. The image does take you there but not clear.

I’m not sure if I understand this part. Did you use the shortcode and it doesn’t show the products in the category as expected?

You could use this third-party plugin to change the button text: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wc-custom-add-to-cart-labels/

    Hi there,

We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’m going to mark this as resolved – if you have any further questions, you can start a new thread.
