  • I get this error when trying to access the install.php:

Parse error: parse error, unexpected $ in /home/sogenco/public_html/wp-includes/template-functions-category.php on line 250

I’ve not made any changes to the files, other than those recommended by your installation page.

    What might cause this problem?

  • It is possible that you accidentally typed a ‘$’ when editting the file template-functions-category.php or a file that it includes. I would suggest first checking template-functions-category.php on line 248, 249 or 250 for a ‘$’. If you post those lines up we could probably see where the problem is.

Also how did you upload the files?

    Support Maven

    Delete the file ‘template-functions-category.php’
    Upload another.

If the error persists, delete all files in the /wp-includes directory and reupload.
