Can't install WooCommerce – eCommerce Shop plugin

  • I’m having a problem installing WooCommerce – eCommerce Shop plugin. When I try to install it, I get the following message:

    Downloading install package from http://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/woocommerce.2.0.8.zip…

    Unpacking the package…

    Installing the plugin…

    Destination folder already exists. /home/content/03/10238403/html/wp-content/plugins/woocommerce/

    Plugin install failed.

How can I get this to install? Please help.

  • It looks like there’s already a folder set up for that in your plugins folder, probably from an earlier failed attempt. The good news is that this is (relatively) easy to fix. All you need to do is delete that folder.

There’s two ways of doing that depending on what you have available and how comfortable you are with the methods.

Firstly, if your hosting account has a ‘File Manager’ function, you can use that to explore the files. Look for the folder ‘wp-content/plugins/woocommerce’. When you find that delete the ‘woocommerce’ folder.

If you don’t have that you’ll have to use FTP to log into your server and delete the same folder that way.
