# Can't Install Plugins

 * When I try to install or upload a new plugin, I get this error message:
 * > Warning: An unexpected error occurred. Something may be wrong with WordPress.
   > org or this server’s configuration. If you continue to have problems, please
   > try the support forums. (WordPress could not establish a secure connection 
   > to WordPress.org. Please contact your server administrator.) in /home1/lazlaw/
   > public_html/wp-admin/includes/plugin-install.php on line 83
   > An unexpected error occurred. Something may be wrong with WordPress.org or 
   > this server’s configuration. If you continue to have problems, please try the
   > support forums.
 * I have looked at Line 83 of that code and it says this:
 * > trigger_error( __( ‘An unexpected error occurred. Something may be wrong with
   > WordPress.org or this server’s configuration. If you continue to have problems,
   > please try the [support forums](https://wordpress.org/support/).’ ) . ‘ ‘ .

   > E_USER_NOTICE );
 * I don’t really know what any of that means, or how to fix it. Can you help me?

 * Are you able to use S/FTP to upload the files to your `wp-content/plugins/` folder?
 * If you don’t know your S/FTP credentials, ask your hosting company about them.

 * I can access my cPanel and upload new plugins that way, however, I still get 
   the error code
 * I can also “Upload” plugins instead of searching for them and installing them
   through wordpress, but I still get this error:

 * Something is causing this error. The problem is not necessarily that I can’t 
   upload plugins. I’m trying to figure out what is causing these errors.
 * Any ideas on how to fix this?
