Support » Installing WordPress » Can't install on my add on domain, lets me do domain.com/blog though?

  • Hi i can’t seem to install wordpress on my add on domain, i already have it on my main domain, its saying…..You cannot install more than one script in the root directory of a domain!

im using cpanel and using the link wordpress install on cpanel.

I can have domain.com/blog but i just want it installed on my domain.com.

    Is there anyway around this?

    Many thanks

    Steve

  • Hi Steve,

Since you’re using cPanel, it’s likely you’re using a script software such as Fantastico De Luxe to install WordPress. There should be a dropdown box where you choose the domain you want to install to. Make sure you change the domain to the Addon Domain on your account.

Here’s step by step instructions for installing WordPress onto an Addon domain in cPanel:

    Hope this helps!

If you are using fantastico, it may think you have a previous installation in the root of your add-on. Look for a file called “installed_in_root” in the fantastico directory. Open it up using code edit in file manager, and remove the entry for the add-on domain. This will correct the issue.
