can't import custom post types with same name as existing posts

    I’m trying to import some custom post types from one WordPress installation to another. The problem is that I have some existing posts (just normal native post types) with the same names as my custom posts. When I try to import with the built in import tool, the importer says, “Post XXX already exists” and doesn’t import it.

    Tried changing the permalink system so that the permalinks are unique, but that didn’t help. Any ideas on how to get around this? Besides deleting all the existing posts? Or changing the names?
