Yes, it was prior to 4.0. It’s the same thing as if I try to select multiple words.
ok. there haven’t been any other plugins that you have added since 4.0, right?
also, have you downloaded and activated the twenty fourteen theme to verify that it is not your theme?
Are there any JavaScript errors in your browser?

This is actually surreal. It has something to do (I believe with our network). I had a friend try to do this from his office and he was able to. But, I can’t do it from my computer, regardless of browser, clearing cache etc, or another’s person’s computer in the office, then I even tried it on a Mac to see if a different operating system would help…nothing. At least for me, this apparently isn’t a wordpress problem, but I have no idea what it could be from here.

Yeah, I’m not having any luck with different browsers, but it’s interesting to hear that someone else at KempRugeLaw has been able to get it working…I’m open to suggestions!
Oh, no, I haven’t got it working. I just know that it’s not a wordpress upgrade problem…at least for me. Apparently, it only works on computers outside our office…which isn’t very helpful at the moment.

Edit: @familyexplorers, I advise you continue the thread you started about your issue and not to jump into other people’s threads for your own support.
I was having the same problem, so I killed (deactivated) all my plugins.
I was then able to insert a link.
Going through the pain of on off again I found that Comprehensive Google Map Plugin was causing my problem….
I deleted and everything works fine now.
