    Hello, I would like to display a part of a post and then if it's too big to has a read more link. I know I am suppose to use the_content for this. But it just keeps displaying the whole story. Even if the post is pretty big. Also I never filled out "excerpt" part when I add a post, but I think I read that WP automatically desides if the post is too long.
    How can I do this. I have the code
    <div class="entry">
    <?php the_content('Read the rest of this entry »' ); ?>
    in the loop. I've tried everything, putting more parameters in, and putting the link to the permaling for last param, but nothing it always displays the whole story.
    What am I doing wrong. Is there something somewhere in options that I need to check.

    Write your content, click the 'more' box just above the editing area, write the rest of your content.
    No options, the 'more' tag is already there.

    that works thanks.
    for some reason from the wiki, the way it described the_content(), I thought it autmotically should do it or something.

    the_content() is jsut that.... the content of the post. The one parameter it does take is the text to display when it encounters the "more" tag.
