    I’ve watched over and over again the uTube video on how to setup Styles on a custom template and I just can’t seem to get it.
    Some of the directories and files are not in my paths that it shows to edit.
    Can someone help?
    Does anyone have a step by step approach written to edit a custom template?

    Thanks!
    David.

    Hi David,

    Sorry to hear you’re having trouble with the walkthrough. I’m not sure where to direct you more specifically without details about what you’re missing. The video tutorials start with http://wordpress.org/plugins/styles-twentytwelve/ as a base.

    At a minimum, you could try copying that plugin’s customize.json file into your theme directory and editing it there. Styles will detect settings in a theme’s customize.json before any plugins, and that should simplify the directory structure for you a bit.

    Hi Paul, i am having trouble myself, i am looking at the video, are you sure that nothing had changed in the plugin since it was recorded?

    i see a

    styles-twentyfourteen.php file in the styles-twentyfourteen folder, do we need to rename that as well?

    @neuro

    you just need to install the styles plugin and then the styles plugin for twentyfourteen

    so you have two plugins in the wp-content/plugins folder

    the first you leave as it is and the second you rename it to match your custom’s theme name

    like styles-custom from styles-twentyfourteen

    then you change also the styles-twentyfourteen.php file add there the name of your custom template.

    thats it, check that you have both of those plugins enabled from the back end.
