    Hello,

I installed the latest free version of metaslider to test it’s possibilities. I put two slideshows in a post and one in a sidebar to see if I could place three in a row, but all of a sudden two extra ones popped up. One in the sidebar and one in the post. I removed all of them, but the ones that appeared on their own didn’t go away. I deleted the slideshow itself and then they were all gone.
Later I deactivated metaslider and the shortcode popped up again in the places where it appeared out of nowhere. It still does when I delete the plugin.
I don’t see the shortcode if metaslider is active, but that’s not really a solution. How do I get rid of the wandering shortcodes?

    Problem can be found on
wp.annienke.com at the bottom of the masonry gallery
    wp.annienke.com/about/ in the sidebar

    Hope you can help!

  • Hi there,

The shortcode will be in the template, widget or page/post content somewhere and will need to be removed.

It must have been added manually as Meta Slider doesn’t add the shortcodes, the user does.

If the plugin is removed the shortcode isn’t processed and instead is displayed as plain text.

    Thanks,
    Dave

    Hello Dave,

It happened exactly as I said above and the shortcode did appear in places where I didn’t add it. It’s on multiple pages and in my sidebars. When I open the content of a page where the shortcode appears, it’s nowhere to be found so I can’t remove it.
Even when I remove all widgets from my sidebar, the shortcode still appears in the sidebar on my website.
I understand that Meta Slider doesn’t normally add shortcodes and it’s probably a strange error or bug, but somehow they appeared and I didn’t put them there and can’t remove them.
Assuming that what I’m saying is true, do you have any idea how/where to fix this problem?

    Thanks,
    Annienke

    Hi Annienke,

    Hmmm, this sounds strange.

Looking at the page source it looks like the shortcode is appearing below the page content – have you checked the page template?

    Thanks,
    Dave
