can't get rid of "LEAVE A REPLY" box

    I am new to wordpress, so baby me a little. I am using the Singl theme and am trying to not display the “leave a reply” box. It does not display on my home page, but does on all of the other pages. I have gone into the screen options tab for each page and unchecked “comments”, but it seems to have no effect. Not sure what to do. By the way, I know very little about coding (trying to learn more), so I find myself fairly lost when reading some of the comments on the forum that provide html code as answers…
    There must be a box to check/uncheck somewhere to get rid of the “leave a reply” box, no?

    When you go to Screen Options, re-check comments. Once done, on the page or post edit screen, scroll down and you can then un-check comments.

    Checked screen options merely display the comment options on a post or page edit screen.

    Thanks for the response. I checked the comment box on screen options, scrolled down to see the “comments” box under my yoast SEO box, but there is nothing to click other than “add new comment”. What should I do?

    EASY FIX!!
    Go to
    Pages
    Select whatever page you want to remove “leave a reply”
    Click
    QUICK EDIT and UNCHECK “allow comments”
    whew…
