Can't get Recent Posts to show up on static homepage

I’m using the Maxx template from properdo.com

Below the slideshow there is supposed to be a Recent Posts section. I dropped in the shortcode for this, but it’s not showing up. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
