You might try renaming your .htaccess file and see if that helps.
Thanks so much, juggledad! I tried renaming to ht.access but that didn’t help. I also checked the text and it is the standard default WordPress text, so it doesn’t appear to be corrupted. I’m probably missing something obvious though: it’s been a long time since I worked with WordPress!
yes i have some problem after upgrade agenbola and tried to reset the password and everything fine now
I am having the same problem. I get stuck in the reauth loop as I’m calling it now.
The only way I could resolve the issue was the downgrade back to 3.9 – maybe in the next release candidate they’ll have it sorted out?
try accessing the login page with out the WWW
Did you use softacolious for the install originally? or just did everything your self?
Thanks again, juggledad! I tried the login page without ‘www’, but that didn’t do it.
tjmarsh: I’m not sure what softacolious is but I just pressed the auto-upgrade button within the admin dashboard when I upgraded.
I’m now considering doing as willow did and returning to a previous version.
Before you do that, could you try this
1) Clear all your browser cookies and try logging in
If that doesn’t work
2) edit wp-config.php and change all the ‘Authentication Unique Keys and Salts.’
3) Then clear all your cookies from your browser
4) try logging in
I am having the same problem. I started a thread here before I saw this one, and reported that one as “resolved,” hoping that people will post here instead of on that thread.
I tried the renaming all the Authentication Unique Keys and Salts, then clearing cookies, with no success.
Tonight I’m going back to 3.9 if I can’t find a solution by then 🙁 (but I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the great WP community will find a solution).
My site is http://modelinginstruction.org
Running on Awardspace Linux server
@leetramp – you should reopen that thread. While the issues maybe the same, there are too many ossible differences in setup and host configurations. Adding to that it makes it difficult to keep track of who said what/did what.
Hi juggledad: thanks again! Yes, that was one of the solutions listed on the Codex so I tried that already. Thank you, though!
@adhocbeth – when you renamed your .htaccess file, did it create a new .htaccess file?
If so, was it the same as the old?
You might want to try manually installing WP 4.0 – see manual update
MAKE SURE YOU DON”T CHANGE
wp-config.php or the
wp-content folder
and you do a BACKUP
this will eliminate the possibility that the update timed out and did not copy all the new 4.0 files.
@juggledad,
Sorry, I’m used to bulletin boards where similar threads are combined, but I can see the difference you are saying. I’ll go back and open the other (and try the manual install of 4.0).
