Can't get new events to load.

Hi, Hope someone can help. I am no expert with this and my experience with WP is just updating blogs and adding new info etc. so technically not good! Not sure what version I am using but it isn’t 3.1. I have a problem trying to load my new events.
I have gone into ‘events’, ‘add new’ entered all the fields correctly i.e dates, times, locations, contact, category, details etc. but when I click ‘submit’ it will initially show error on page, then that might disappear but nothing happens to the page., If I click refresh all my details disappear and the fields are blank again, I have checked to see if anything is uploaded on my website, but nothing. Can anyone help me? Thanks!
