Support » Plugin: Latest Post Shortcode » Can’t get links to work

  • I can’t get the links to work. I have been using the code: [latest-selected-content limit=”6″ type=”lesson” display=”title, date” elements=”0″ status=”publish” orderby=”dateD” url=”yes”] but I still don’t get links to display at all. It also keep sorting it by the oldest ones first.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hello,

You would have to use the custom read more message, that will make your shortcode look like [latest-selected-content limit="6" type="lesson" display="title, date" elements="0" status="publish" orderby="dateD" url="yes" linktext="Read more"]. One other thing is that you are using the elements="0", which indicated that you are configuring the shortcode to render a tile template that does no support link. Maybe try elements="3".

About the order of the posts, I am not sure how to test what the problem is, but maybe you can try a different sort option and let me know if that makes any difference.

That worked perfect for the links…thank you!

I tried dateA and dateD and they both pulled the most original lessons first.

Any ideas? I can’t use this widget until it pulls correctly as we want to show the latest updates and it can’t look like we haven’t updated sine 2014.

    Thanks!

The date used for sorting the posts is the publish date.

Are you using some custom post type or some custom post meta for the post date? Let me know where I can see your list of posts that need to be sorted.

The page that displays all of the lessons is membership protected so I don’t know that you could see much. :/

We are using the Sensei plugin which creates lessons, moedules and courses and we are trying to pull the latest lessons. Saying lessons in the shortcode pulls the correct thing, but I’m having a hard time figuring out the date and if it’s using something else other than publish date…Suggestions on where to look?

    Thank you!!

I will install the Sensei plugin and test it in few minutes. I will release a new version of the plugin today, and if I find that there is an incompatibility with Sensei, I will attempt to include a solution.

I’m not seeing the ability to update. It says I have version 7.3, what is the latest?

I have the updated version and it sorted it closer to what I’m looking for, however it shows different lessons on different pages, doesn’t show them all and has an August one before September…so it went August, September, June.

    Thanks!

Hello, just checking in on this to see if there were any updates or any help on what to try to make this work?
