So I’ve installed AAM and purchased the AAM Plus Package so I should be able to manage access to whatever Posts and Pages I like.

The first thing I wanted to try was to stop someone editing or deleting ANY posts. So I select the role that the user is a member of in AAM, go to the Posts & Pages section, and then click on the Manage Access button next to Posts. I then put a tick in Edit & Delete on both Backend Posts and Backend Categories. This should be all that’s required as far as I can work out.

When I log in with the test user, they can still edit a post. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

  • Hi dougdavis22,

First of all, please make sure that you are using the latest AAM version as well as all your extensions are up to date (no warnings on the AAM page).

You can do the same way in much easier way. Simply make sure that your user does not have a capability checked: Edit Posts and Delete Posts.

Also please make sure that your user inherited the default settings from the parent role. Simply go to AAM, switch to the user that you are using for testing and access settings for any post. The message above the access control form will tell you if it was inherited from the default settings or not.

    Please keep us updated.
    Regards,
    Vasyl
