  • When I’m attempting to upload the FileZilla software a sign at the bottom of my computer comes up saying that this software may be dangerous to my system. I have elected to bypass this warning because of having confidence that this is “good” stuff. Everyone recommends using it. Once I’ve uploaded it and it comes up the window shows the FileZilla logo, a menu bar /File/Server/ Edit. In the field below that menu is this > quote “FileZilla Server version 0.9.41 beta
Copyright 2001-2012 by Tim Kosse (
    Connecting to server…
    Connected, waiting for authentication
    Logged on”< end quote

Once I’m that far I’m able to go through and make settings adjustments in the Edit menu and the entries show up in a field below the menu bar with the other text. BUT that’s it!!! Once I press “ok” the appearance of the software never changes. It has never shown the configuration like is on the examples in the instructions, with a field on the left that has local PC files and a field on the right that has the files on the server. Also, Once I closed the downloaded program, I can’t open it again. A sign comes up saying quote > “ FileZilla Server has stopped working, a problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.” < end quote. Of course… No body has notified me of anything! Something is wrong but I have know idea what. Can anyone PLEASE help me set up FileZilla FTP on my laptop?
    thank you…. Paul

  • Just want to add this to the above post… I’ve been working on this problem for 3 days now and I’m about to give up all together. Please help me get FileZilla working. Thanks… Paul

Where are you trying to install WP? What hosting?

I’m hosting with I have two sites. and

The put WP on the server for me. It’s part of there arrangement. But I thought that all the windows files would be gone because of WP having a Linux platform. However, when using another FTP software call Coffee Cup it showed files on the server that I put on back in 2010 using FrontPage. That’s Windows. So I just don’t understand. The instructions I got said I needed to look for a file called Public_html and I couldn’t find such a file. Anyway, for now I just want to get FileZilla up and running on my laptop correctly so I transfer the new site that I’ve made on Instant WP up to my server. Any suggestion? Thanks… Paul

    EDIT – sorry, we cross-posted –

Okay, looks like you have WP installed on the first one already? So what are you trying to do with FileZilla?

    Have you seen this?

I just removed and reinstalled FileZilla again… for the 9th time. I must have done something a little different and right this time because at least I can now x out the program and then bring it back up again without a measage saying the program is not working. However, it still isn’t looking like it should with a box for local files on the left and another box on the right for server files. It still just looks like I discribed above with my first post.

Thanks so much for your help. I went to the first link you sent about how to use Filezilla. The first illustration showing Using the Quick Connect bar with the fields to enter password, user name so on does not appear on my screen. The only thing apearing is a window with the Filezilla log, Filesille server ( below that in the menu bar is File/ Server/ Edit… then in the box is this text…
    FileZilla Server version 0.9.41 beta
Copyright 2001-2012 by Tim Kosse (
    Connecting to server…
    Connected, waiting for authentication
    Logged on

    That’s it!
    Please help… thanks

    FileZilla Server

You downloaded the wrong one!!! That is the FileZilla FTP SERVER 🙂

You need the FileZilla FTP CLIENT 🙂 Try that and see how it goes 🙂
