I’ve been uploading several themes and have noticed that the theme offers two sidebars, but when I go into the Widget module, only Sidebar 1 appears. And sometimes, what is in the Widget interface is not reflected in what appears on the site. It seems like the stuff appearing on the live site is handcoded.
How do I make these work? Is there a special plugin that has to be installed? I looked at the code and it says
/* Widgetized sidebar, if you have the plugin installed. */
I haven’t been able to find such a plugin.
Any suggestions? Or should I just not use these themes? They seem to be popular so someone has to be making them work.

Some of it might be.
The widget referred to is probably this one, but widgetized sidebar functionality has been part of WP core code since WP 2.2 or so which suggests that the theme you are using is a couple of years old. It might work fine but it might have compatibility problems if it hasn’t been updated in that time.
I guess my question is, when a theme has 2 sidebars available, but only allows one sidebar to be edited in the Widget interface, what do I do? Do I just not use that particular theme (there seem to be quite a few with this problem.)
