Support » Plugin: Yoast SEO » Can’t find the rel=canonical on the variation url

I’ve found this thread: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/woocommerce-product-variations-and-canonical-url/ and if i look at the source code of our product page I cant find the rel=canonical.

    My question now is:
    – what triggers the rel=canonical to be printed on the /product/bugaboo-leather-look-upgrade-set/?attribute_pa_kleur=donkey-duo-twi ?
    – could it be theme specific and is there no automatic rel=canonical
    – how to debug further?

I prefer not to link to the develop environment because I don’t want it to be indexed by any search engine and not all are listening very good to the robots.txt

By default the Yoast SEO plugin will output a canonical tag for every page/post on your site, and will use the permalink of that page/post for the canonical URL value. Normally, you would leave the Canonical URL value in the plugin blank by default and the canonical tag will automatically be set to the same value as the page’s permalink.

If you aren’t seeing the canonical URL being output in the source code of pages this may be due to a plugin or theme conflict so we would recommend checking for any issue using the guide here: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/how-to-check-for-plugin-conflicts

    Hi devnihil and other readers:

it seems that when you have the general setting ‘Search engine visibillity’ turned on that the rel=canonical will not be printed:
    http://prntscr.com/os4i8z

When you switch this off the rel=canonical url = printed in the source code.

    This fixed it for us.

how can i change the canonical rel for my site
