• A former employee set up our blog in WordPress. This may sound absurd, but we have no idea where our files reside. How do we figure out who’s hosting our blog? The company that hosts our two websites is not hosting our blog. The company that hosts our email is not, either. Nor is the company where we registered the domain for our blog. The latter says “Your DNS says your files are on the WordPress servers.”

ARE there WordPress servers? If so, how do we get access to them to back up our blog? If not, how do we figure out where the heck our files and database are being hosted?

  • If you post your url may be we can at least find out where the domain name registered and hosted

type your url to whois and check where is it hosted and if you guys had whois protect id then i guess you’ll have to contact your former employee for the details.

Our URL is oldwaystable.org. The domain is registered at OneAndOne, but we called them and they are NOT hosting the blog. WhoIS lists three servers at WordPress.com — which takes me back to my question above. How do we get access to the WordPress servers to figure out how to back up our files? We are NOT techie people (we’re a small nonprofit) and it’s frustrating that there’s no one you can call at WordPress to get any answers.

Your site is hosted on wordpress.com. These forums are for self-hosted WordPress sites only. Please try asking your question on http://en.forums.wordpress.com/

    I found it: http://oldwaystable.wordpress.com/wp-login.php

Presumably the employee set it up using his work email account – you may have to reactivate that so that you can reset the password.
