hi friends, i have just installed glossary and it looks good. only problem is i cannot see the ‘excerpt field’ in the ‘add new glossary term’ area.

have looked in both classic and block editor but nothing. keep getting an error message saying the excerpt field is empty but no joy. also check in ‘screen options’ in classic editor but there is no option there.

excerpt is working fine on my pages and posts.

have looked though support docs but can’t find anything info there.

anyone else had this prob? appreciate any advice. looks like a good plugin and would like to get it working.

    thanks

    mel

  • Hi,
the excerpt area is part of the WordPress native feature so if you don’t see that metabox maybe you hidden in both the view.
Usually in gutenberg is in the right sidebar when you are viewing the full article and on classic editor with the contextual menu in the top (top right under the black admin bar) you can turn it on.

Hi Daniele and thanks for your reply.

    Just to be clear.

    1. I realise the excerpt area is native to wordpress.
    2. Excerpt is actually displaying normally in posts, pages, et al — both in classic editor and gutenberg editor.
    3. Excerpt is NOT showing up in glossary — not in classic, not in gutenberg.
    4. I’ve already thoroughly checked the spaces that excerpt usually appears (I used it regularly for blog posts etc).
    5. In glossary view there is no option for excerpt in ‘screen view’ (classic editor.
    6. There is no option to turn on excerpt using ‘preferences’ in the block editor settings.
    6. I am getting an error message at the the top of the screen saying the excerpt field is empty.

Happy to provide any other info. Thanks.

Do you mean an alert with this message?
The content and the excerpt of this term are both empty, this will generate empty Tooltips!

I am checking and the excerpt metabox is showed with gutenberg and classic editor in our instances.
In the screen options of the glossary term with classic editor the excerpt is there unchecked.
Do you have some plugins that could interfere with that?

Hi Daniele, thanks for your continued assistance. sorry it’s taken so long to get back to you.

    1. Do you mean an alert with this message? YES, i’m getting that message.
The content and the excerpt of this term are both empty, this will generate empty Tooltips!

    2. In the screen options of the glossary term with classic editor the excerpt is there unchecked. there is not option for exerpt, refer to the screen shot and you’ll see in the sidebar (right) and overlay it’s missing.

    3. Do you have some plugins that could interfere with that? not sure, what type of plugins would interfere? i have yoast, caching, some woo commerce extensions. not too many.

If I buy the premium version will you help me get this sorted via customer support?

    Thanks Mel

Usually in wordpress the excerpt metabox is showed when the view is on the full article view (when appears the publish button) in the bottom.

Yes if you buy the premium plugin I can sort this with our support and asks for an admin access.
