# Can't enable WordPress Multisite

 * I can’t see the “Network Admin” link in the top righthand corner next to the 
   log out.
 * I have already added define(‘WP_ALLOW_MULTISITE’, true); as said at [http://codex.wordpress.org/Create_A_Network](http://codex.wordpress.org/Create_A_Network)
 * Seeing as I couldn’t find the link once logged in as Admin thought to try to 
   navigate directly to mysite.com/wp-admin/network/ but I got this: “You do not
   have sufficient permissions to access this page.”
 * Hmmm…. thoughts?
 * [it is a fresh install of the latest, nothing changed from default. Still even
   has the standard default “Hello World” content]

 * Thought I should add as well that I can modify the linking structure at [http://mysite.com/wp-admin/options-permalink.php](http://mysite.com/wp-admin/options-permalink.php)
   just fine
 * which is one of the suggestions to check if you can install sub directory site
   ok:

 * When I look at instead:
    [http://mysite.com/wp-admin/network.php](http://mysite.com/wp-admin/network.php)
 * I then get:
    “You must define the WP_ALLOW_MULTISITE constant as true in your
   wp-config.php file to allow creation of a Network.”
 * Yet I have done exactly that was I was told!

 * You have curly quotes ( ’ )in the define. They have to be straight quotes: ‘

 * thanks for spotting that! oddly enough I was only copying and pasting from the
   codex so I wonder how that slipped in?
 * I still don’t see the “Network Admin” link however… :-s
 * But going directly to [http://mysite.com/wp-admin/network.php](http://mysite.com/wp-admin/network.php)
   seems to work instead 🙂

 * oohhh… I see now “Network” is under “Tools”, did it get moved back?
 * Doesn’t seem to be mentioned in the changes of WordPress 3.1.3 or anywhere else
   that I can see.

 * No. Initially the network setup screen is under “Tools”, until you complete the
   network setup process.
