# Cant enable file uploads

 * Hi – I am running the latest version of WP , and was trying to have a play around
   with the Gallery mod for it. I have noticed that I do not have file uploads enabled.
   When I try and enable it, it shows up in the WP-Admin screen as enabled, but 
   does not actually enable. There are no new buttons, or form fields as there should
   be. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

 * In 1.2, Uploads is a section all of it’s own in the main menu at the top of the
   screen.

 * What permissions have to be set on the file upload directory for it to be writeable
   by WordPress. I have set the group to be user of the Apache process and set the
   group permissions to be +rw.
    Wordpress responds that it lacks the permissions

 * 777 – it will presumably only have images in, so 777 will be fine, you could 
   try 755 or 766 too.
