  • If i click ‘Edit’ it takes me to the home page. I just had to re-post to correct a simple URL problem.

I notice that there is a specific URL with a numeric variable if i hover over the link. Clicking it takes me to http://wordpress.org/support/

    Hi,
You’re accidentally being caught as spam.
When spam is caught, it needs to first be reviewed by a moderator to check whether it is or is not spam. The spam is not publicly viewable until this, meaning you cannot do the normal forum things like edit it or link to it.

If it is deemed not to be spam, it will be thrown back into the forums. Otherwise it will be deleted.

Well, blimey, that just happened to me. I need to fix a pre tag I inserted with HTML code brackets, which hid the tag and botched that part of the post. Who are the moderators? 🙂 Can I contact them? Cheers.

I just read about tagging a post with ‘modlook’ but I couldn’t tag the post I want to edit, so I tagged this one. The post I want to edit is https://wordpress.org/support/topic/not-quite-ready-for-deployment. Thanks!

Was it the pre tag, the div tag, or something else that caused the aforementioned post to be deemed spam? Thanks.

You don’t have to post about it a whole bunch. Our moderators are smart and can react to situations. Just not immediately, this is a free volunteer forum, and everybody has day jobs and real lives. 🙂

I’ve unmarked you, but it might happen again. Totally automated. Something about what you posted triggered it. Probably links. Usually. Hard to tell, really, it’s a system of many things. For now, it probably won’t trigger again.

Thanks, Samuel. Sorry, I thought about more info that might be helpful, but I couldn’t edit the post on this thread either, so I had to make another post. Then an hour later I thought to ask what was the trigger. Seems nobody knows for sure. 🙂 Interesting that my original post on that other thread was flagged, because there were no URLs (links), though there were code, ol, li, along with unescaped pre’s. Will have to be careful about those.

The checker is a guy named Bob sitting in a closet rolling dice… No, seriously it’s what you post, how often you post, and so on. I used to trip it a LOT 🙂

Heh, heh, thanks Ipstenu, yeah, I figured it was Bob. I’d seen him hanging out near the broom closet a bunch of times, and when I’d turn away to chat with people passing by, I’d look back and he would have disappeared. Now I know where he went. So what’s your secret to keep from tripping it? 🙂

So what’s your secret to keep from tripping it? 🙂

Bob is constantly learning what is spam and what isn’t, so there’s not really any definitive guidance on how to avoid him. We just recommend following these guidelines: http://codex.wordpress.org/Forum_Welcome

Bob has difficulty with basic cognitive skills and suffers from memory loss, because he can’t seem to remember that I’ve been around for years and am not a spammer. Maybe he got the Abby Normal brain. 🙂

Okay, but having made an account long ago isn’t a criterion that you’re not a spammer.

    – Closing because this convo isn’t going anywhere
