I can’t seem to edit more than a few characters at a time on any of my existing posts. It will let me change a word or a bit of punctuation here or there but deleting a picture, deleting a whole sentence or heavens forbid the whole article just doesn’t work. The edit shows up in the visual editor, but once I hit “Update” and the page reloads, my old post is back!

It’s doing it with all the posts on the site. Not sure when it started, but I’m pretty sure a week or so ago I could edit existing posts, no problems.

If I make a new post now, save it, then go and edit that, it saves the new update just fine.

I tried editing from the HTML editor and the same thing happens. I also tried different browsers and different computers and the same thing happens. Can anyone help?

  • Several other threads have reported similar problems. The standard answer seems to be ‘repair the database tables using phpMyAdmin or a similar tool’.

The WP DB-Manager plugin will let you repair your database.

Thanks for that. I already had the plugin so it was as simple as clicking the repair button! Kudos…
