Can’t edit files

  • How come whenever I try to edit my different wordpress files {especially the themes} through my Admin Page, I can’t edit them…

Instead of seeing that ‘save’ or something button, a line is there and says ‘If this file were writable you could edit it.’

This line comes out when i go to presentation >> theme editor and manage >> files

How come I can’t edit them though wp-admin?
but i can edit them when i use my http://FTP...

When you enter FTP, access the folder where the theme you want to edit, right click the file (one at a time), tick all the boxes under “Write” (Owner, Group and All Users). If you think this is tiring, you can download FTP programmes like Firezilla to edit all the file attributes at one time.
