    For some reason I can no longer edit the subject or heading content for an email. They are both grayed out. I only take COD orders and now the processing email that my customers are receiving is saying “payment received” and “thank you for your payment”, which is inaccurate. Any idea why I can’t edit these any longer? I’m not a developer, just a small business owner trying to maintain a basic site myself.

    Hey @laurasbeads are you trying to edit the subject and heading by going to the WooCommerce > Settings > Emails tab? Or are you doing it somewhere else?

    If when you click “Manage” for an email on that page, you should be able to adjust the subject of your “New Order” and “Processing Order” email templates. Keep in mind that the fields will show some gray sample text in them, however you can still click into the subject and heading fields to enter your custom text.

    If those are the fields you are using and they are grayed out, there may be another plugin on your site that is blocking that functionality. On a staging/test site you can try disabling all plugins except for WooCommerce. As well try temporarily changing to the Twenty Nineteen theme as your theme is fairly old.

    Once you do that, check to see if the problem is resolved.

    In regards to the email that goes out to COD customers, that is a bug that has already been filled with the WooCommerce project. You can view and following the status of that bug here if you’d like:

    I’m not sure I would consider it resolved because I still cannot edit the grayed out settings discussed, however since I do not do a high volume of internet sales, I can wait until the known bug of the standard wording of the COD orders is addressed. Thank you for the suggestions though.

    Hi! I thought I had the same issue, as I could not highlight the text in the email subject or header box. But when I put my cursor at the beginning of the line and started typing, I was able to change the text. Does that work for you?

    OMG you are absolutely right Bet! I kept trying fruitlessly to delete the standard text or replace it to no avail. Thanks a million!
