Support » Plugin: GiveWP - Donation Plugin and Fundraising Platform » Can’t disconnect Stripe

I was setting up WP with GiveWP on one host and decided to move it to another provider.

To my surprise, when I installed GiveWP on the second site donate.lightforceone.org, the settings were already there. The test donation worked fine, but trying a test with credit card using Stripe failed (I don’t remember the error, it was very ambiguous). Then I switched out of test mode and received a different error about Stripe returning an error, although I don’t see anything in Stripe logs.

So far, I’ve tried to disconnect, so I could reconnect. Although it acts like it’s disconnecting, it remains connected. I even tried to wack it from the Stripe side, and I tried deactivating (deleting the data) and even uninstalling the plugin and reinstalling it.

It seams no matter what I do, I can’t disconnect.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Hey @bauerinfotech – I think when you migrated it updated the URLs in the database and something happened with the connection to Stripe. I went into our system and cleared out all entries of the domain you have. Can you try to disconnect and reconnect now?

    Hi Devin,

Thank you. I just tried to disconnect still nothing happens.

    Hmm, strange. Ok!

    Here’s what I suggest:

If you’re using the free version and want to disconnect you’re going to have to run give_delete_option( 'give_stripe_connected' ) one time on your WordPress site to clear the connected status. You can use a plugin like https://wordpress.org/plugins/my-custom-functions/ for that.

If you’re using the pro version of Stripe from us then you can simply use API keys by going to Settings > Advanced > Stripe.

    I hope this helps!

    Hi Devin,

I tried placing the following text in the main tab and as soon as I enable it, it kills the site. Tried twice. I had to disable the Space X plugin both times to get the site back up. the text I entered on the main tab was as follows

    give_delete_option( ‘give_stripe_connected’ )

Unless I did something wrong there, do you think wacking the site and starting over will resolve the issue?

@bauerinfotech hmm that’s not good. I wonder why that’s happening. If it’s not too much trouble you can use the option to Delete all Data on uninstall for GiveWP and then try that again. That’s located under Settings > Advanced.

Okay, that helped me sever the connection. When I reinstalled GiveWP it took me through the wizard and I reconnected.

But, not I’m back to the original problem that I was trying to solve. In test mode, if I try to do a credit card donation, I get “Oops! That page can’t be found.” and no transaction is processed and no emails are sent. If I switch out of test mode and try a credit card donation again, “Error: The Stripe Gateway returned an error while processing the donation.”

    It appears to be working!!

I forgot to add the webhook back in. I added that in and did another test donation and it looks like it went through.

    Dave Happy 🙂
