 * What plugin are you trying to delete?
 * What operating system and web-server are you using?
 * Are you using WordPress 2.6.2?

 * I try to delete this bloody “hello dolly”. But I can’t automatically upgrade
the plugins either, which is even worse. Yes it’s WordPress 2.6.2. latest Version.
I’ not sure about the OS, it’s a simple Webspace at HostEurope

 * Can you delete the hello.php in wp-contents/plugins folder. Use FileZilla (or
other FTP client) if you host doesn’t provide a ‘file manager’ application.

 * Ideas on how to solve this are welcome.
I guess it´s something related to temp
path but i´m not that good on this. Thanks in advance.

 * I had the same error today with hosteurope on a fresh install of wordpress Ver.
2.6.2. The issue seems to depend on their setup of the user’s temporary directory
system AND maybe the username:password used when updating/deleting plugins –
I’m not sure yet and have to analyze errorlogs…

 * I got this when trying to upgrade a plugin in WordPress 2.6.5. My installation
is on Windows Server 2003 and in my case resetting file access did the trick –
Internet Guest Account was set to deny write, I changed to allow for all files
   and subdirectories.
 * Unfortunately I cannot find anywhere how file access settings should be so I
found this out using trail & error…
