Support » Fixing WordPress » Can’t delete category, it is the Default…

  • Well, actually no it’s not.
My wordpress seems to think that the Subcategory titled “Work” is my default category. – I have the theory that it’s because I renamed uncategorized to work before I created new categories and initially changed the Default to “Daily” in the Options.

So now, In options I’m told the default cateogry is Daily, but I can’t delete work – I’m confused. 🙁

  • I think the problem is that the CatID is 1, and I don’t think WP will let you delete CatID 1.

that’s upsetting, I suppose I’ll just switch the names then.

Any reason why pages are categorized but I cant’ control which category they go into?

They actually aren’t or shouldn’t be categorized. I think the database just ends up defaulting to Cat1 for them. Easiest thing to do is just delete the tag for the category from the page.php template.
