• I want to allow visitors to my WP site to click on a link to download a PDF file but I can’t seem to get it to work, here’s the details of the setup:

I create a post and use the code,

When I try to view the site I get a few different problems. First of all the link doesn’t become available until I click “read more” below the post… this isn’t good for me. Second of all, when I click the link I get an error message.

I’m new to this, so maybe I’m going about this wrong, can someone instruct me on how to properly do this? Should I be doing it through a post or another method?

    Thank you

P.S. Let me know if you need more information about the problem

  • First of all the link doesn’t become available until I click “read more” below the post.

Then add the link above the <!--more--> quicklink in your post. That is, if you’re using that in your posts. If not, it would help to know if 1. you’re using a plugin to add the ‘more’ link automatically, or 2. displaying just the excerpt of posts on non-single post pages.

Second of all, when I click the link I get an error message.

Don’t make us guess the error…

It would help in troubleshooting all this if we had a link to your blog, or more specifically the url to a post with a PDF download link.
