can't create a separate blog page, reading settings problem

Hi!
I apologize if this has been answered already, I didn’t manage to find the answer anywhere. I created a blog page and then went to Reading settings to give some more instructions to the WordPress… but, there is neither the “blog” nor “home” page in a drop box under the static front page. What should I do? Thanks in advance.
