• Hello,
I’m facing a strange problem. I tried to migrate my website to a new server, copied the files, imported the sql, as usual. I changed the wp-config to the correct values (and I’m sure they are correct as I have other wp installs running on the same db).
However, when I try to open the new web site, I see some images which are apparently not wordpress related, but the database itself cannot be accessed, and I get the following message : Can’t connect to local MySQL server through socket ‘/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock’ (2)
The temporary url of the website is flandrecotedopale*com/site_ta
I have the impression that there is an instruction somewhere that overrules the wp-config parameters, but where could that be? There are no other documents than the regular wp ones in the root file.
Thanks in advance for your help.

  • I don’t think that error is being generated by WordPress. I can see your login page with no errors – See if it lets you log into the back end of the site. http://flandrecotedopale.com/site_ta/wp-login.php

It looks like you also have an index.html file in that same directory. http://www.flandrecotedopale.com/site_ta/index.html

Did you accidentally install WordPress in the /site_ta directory before removing any other existing site files that may have already been there?

Hello and thanks for your reply. The index.html file is in a parent directory, so that shouldn’t be the problem. I have other wp installs in similar subdirectories and they work.
I have access to wp-admin indeed, so I guess there is a problem somewhere in the wp-content directory.
The subfolder was empty when i moved the wp files to it.

I found out it’s related to the theme. When I switch to twenty fourteen, the connection with the database is made. It looks like I have to browse through all the files in the theme to find out what the problem is? Any idea as to where I should look first?
    Thanks in advance.

I don’t. You will need to speak with the developer of the twenty fourteen child theme you’re using.
