"Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket"???

Hello, I am installing MAMP, following the rules to a tee, even had to install the (terminal gliche code). I was just about to start step 3, when I clicked on PHPmyADMIN, this message appeared;

Can’t connect to local MySQL server through socket ‘/Applications/MAMP/tmp/mysql/mysql.sock’ (2)
The server is not responding (or the local server’s socket is not correctly configured).

My ports are fine etc, please help, thank you, Howie Crosby.
