Hi there… trying to install wordpress on a godaddy server. I’ve set up the mySQL database and downloaded wordpress. I modified the config file with the DB name, username and password. I left the server at ‘localhost’. Now when I try to connect to install.php to run the installation I get the error:
“Error establishing a database connection
This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can’t contact the database server at localhost. This could mean your host’s database server is down.
* Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
* Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
* Are you sure that the database server is running?
If you’re unsure what these terms mean you should probably contact your host. If you still need help you can always visit the WordPress Support Forums.”
I have re-created the DB with a new name and username but I get the same result. I’ve also changed “localhost” to ( I think) the specific IP address of the server the DB is running on. Has anyone else had any problems with Go Daddy? I don’t know what to do next… any help would be greatly appreciated.
