We built a new wordpress website for a very old magento domain Boekmetnaam.nl
We built it on .eu and when it was ready moved it to the .nl domain.

With woocommerce came jetpack. We configured it and had the impression that we could use jetpack so we kept it to buy the pro version later after we have made sure the website was functioning well on the .nl

But despite the fact that we had already configured jetpack on the .eu, I now get the message “install jetpack and connect” on the .nl.

    To be precise;

Connect Jetpack to activate WooCommerce Shipping & Tax
WooCommerce Shipping & TAX is now almost ready to use! Once you have connected Jetpack you will get access to automated tax calculation.

By clicking “Install Jetpack and connect, you agree to the Terms of Service and to share certain data and settings with WordPress.com and/or third parties.”

But when I click the install button I get the message: “There was an error installing Jetpack. Please try installing it manually”.

If I install the plugin as a new plugin ; “Installation failed: Destination folder already exists.”

Even if I manually delete the destination folder on the server.

Jetpack boost was also installed on the .eu and still works fine after the migration to the .nl

The Jetpack plugin doesn’t appear in the plugins list so I can’t remove it either.

But the notification remains at the top of the plugin page.

How can I either delete the JetPack leftovers, or install it so I wont have this annoying message anymore?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @ronaldlubach

As a next step here, I would reach out to your hosting provider. Perhaps they have Jetpack installed for all WP sites? Additionally, they will be able to see if there is a permissions issue preventing the full deletion of the plugin directory.

YES!! Same issue and now my page is literally FILLED WITH ERROR CODES and of course there’s no way to reach out to support for help!! So frustrating!!

    Hi there @brokenstiletto,

As Bob mentioned, your host should be able to fix that for you and clear out any potential permission issues happening. This way, you should be able to re-install Jetpack from scratch and re-connecting it.

Unfortunately, we can’t do much if you have trouble reaching out to your hosting providers 🙁 We’ll be happy to run more tests on your Jetpack connection once you can reconnect it, so to check on its status.

Hope that’s all clear and it helps. Let me know how you get on.

@bobmatyas thank you, but we run our own vps and we did not install Jetpack for all WP sites

@erania-pinnera thank you for the response. Bu no, that cant be the solution. We run our own vps and our hosting provider is not a wp specific provider either.

    Hi @ronaldlubach

    Thanks for the additional information.

You can try this plugin to delete the Jetpack options from your database:

    https://github.com/automattic/jetpack-addons/archive/add/jp-rm-options.zip

If that doesn’t work, the next suggestion would be to rule out a plugin conflict. Please disable all plugins other than WooCommerce and WooCommerce Shipping & Tax and then try to install Jetpack again.

If you are able to install Jetpack, you will know that another plugin is conflicting.

    @bobmatyas
Thanks for your help. Really appreciate it.

I uploaded the plugin. Activated it and got the message: “plugin file does not exist”.
And then the plugin was gone. Not in the plugin list anymore.

So then I deactivated all plugins accept woo.
Clicked the blue “install Jetpack” button.
Message: “There was an error installing Jetpack. Please try installing it manually.”

Then uploaded the jetpack addons-add plugin again activated it. however, in the list with plugins it was deactivated, so I activated it again. And again received the message; “Plugin file does not exist”.

So I clicked “new Plugin”, searched for JetPack, installed it; “installation failed”.

The site is working just fine, I just cant install nor use Jetpack and I can’t get the message (or the ad)

“Connect Jetpack to activate WooCommerce Shipping & Tax
WooCommerce Shipping & VAT is now almost ready to use! Once you have connected Jetpack you will get access to automated tax calculation

By clicking “Install Jetpack and connect”, you agree to the Terms of Service and to share certain data and settings with WordPress.com and/or third parties”,`

    away.

Because the site is running well, even though the backend is a bit ugly that way, I have reactivated the plugins and it looks like I’ll just have to learn to live with it.
To bad, but only nobody is perfect, the rest of us just have to do.

    Thanks once more.
    regards,
    Ronald
