Hi! I have been trying to set up my site (karolinewithak.com) for the last 12 hours or so, and for the life of me I can’t figure out how to change the link color in my theme, Comet. I tried changing the theme color, but no matter what theme I chose, the links are red. Red doesn’t work with my color scheme at all.

I tried playing with the CSS and changing the link color codes, but that didn’t do anything. HELP!!!

  • Are you aware that theme is quite outdated?

You’d really be well-advised to find a new one that’s current and supported.

@wpyogi Yes, I’m aware it’s outdated, but it’s the theme I used at wp.com and I really love the way it looks. I’m having trouble finding other three-column themes that I actually like.

Are the links appearing in red because the theme is outdated?

I’m sympathetic to that situation, but you’re really asking for problems (if not right now then later) by using a theme that isn’t supported or being updated.

Both of these themes have that sort of layout option – and have TONS of built in options and great support from the developers:

    http://wordpress.org/themes/weaver-ii

    http://wordpress.org/themes/suffusion

Your site is taking FOREVER to load – so you may want to shorten what shows up on the home page…

To answer the links question, the CSS is being overridden by CSS in the teal.css file. BUT you should avoid modifying theme files anyway – as your changes will be lost when the theme is updated – kind of moot using an old theme but in general you should use a Child Theme or make changes using Custom CSS.

Looks like you have JetPack – so you can use JetPack’s custom CSS:
Under Appearance > Edit CSS: ADD your changes there.

Thank you very much 🙂 I understand where your coming from with the outdated theme stuff, so I’m trying out suffusion now. I had previously tried weaver ii and HATED it, so we’ll see how this one works!

Ok, before I tried suffusion, I did the custom css in Jetpack and IT WORKED!!! A million thank you’s to you, WPyogi!! You are a rockstar!
