Support » Plugin: Solid Security – Password, Two Factor Authentication, and Brute Force Protection » Can't change htaccess permissions back to 666 from 644

  • In the tweaks section, I clicked the “Protect Files” checkbox, which set the permissions for .htaccess to 644. However, I need to temporarily set it back to 666 so that I can make a change to it, but I’m unable to do it!

In FTP, the log shows this when I try:

    Command: chmod 666 ".htaccess"
Error: set attrs for /home/mysite/public_html/.htaccess: permission denied

I thought maybe the script was preventing it, so I went into Better WP Security tweaks and unchecked that checkbox, and waited a day (thinking maybe the cron job needed to run) but I’m still having the same problem. .htaccess is stuck on 644 permissions and I can’t change it.
