Now I know how it works though I’m not a coder. there is a ;s:(numbers): before any data which represents the total number of characters. for instance, website.com has 11 characters so the total number of characters is displayed like this : ;s:11:\"example.com\"

NOW, because every link has its own specific characters then if you make any single changes to any link you need to update their characters as well. this is crazy… say you have around 1000 links and you need to update them. it’s gonna take forever to update them manually.

Is there any way to update the character counters automatically after you modified the links ?

I have had three issues by now and none of them has been answered. unfortunately I’m gonna have to give this good plugin 1 star if I can’t have them fixed.

It’s not about time to respond. I understand that pretty well !! the thing is I’ve only had ONE response to my issues up until now !

Anyways I seem to have solved the issues and I’m happy with it !

Just out of curiosity. say I don’t want to use a plugin to rename the links. isn’t there a way to update the character counters after changing the links through the database ?

The data is serialized so no, there is not a way to change it without using a plugin like the one you mentioned. That is true for any data (not just data from EDD) that is stored in a serialized array.
