I have been at this for a few years and I never fail to get tripped up by the .org vs .com. I have seen the page where it describes the comparison between the two, but this never helps me. I just wish I had all my blogs in one place, but I dont. And figuring out where they are hosted and what passwords are used is a complete nightmare. I sincerely wish working with WordPress was easier than it currently is, but please shed light on this because if I’m doing something wrong I’d like to be enlightened.

Let me walk you through the issue…

I administrate several blogs. Some self-hosted, some not. The hosting never seems to be an issue though b/c it happens in the background and I only ever use the WordPress control panel interface. When I navigate to WordPress.com and log in, I am able to see a list of (presumably) all of my blogs. But wait, they don’t all exist here! Its a partial list. Furthermore, when I click “New Post” it only allows me to post to a subset of those sites listed! Does that make any sense? Not to me. If these are MY sites, why cant I post to anyone of them??

    What am I missing???

WordPress.com has no connection to your personal sites.

WordPress.com is a multisite that someone else owns and manages, and graciously allows you to have blogs on it.

Your self-hosted sites are your own.

Well. Yes. You see the sites that you made on wordpress.com.

Then why do some of my self-hosted sites appear on .com? Let me be clear, all of my sites are created with WordPress. I just dont know how to distiguish between them all OR how to access them with one email address.
