I want to add a sidebar to my Woocommerce store so that I can use the Drag N Drop Shop. However, I can’t seem to activate my sidebars at all. My shop is added to a site that I didn’t build – a child theme of Twenty Eleven – so I can’t do anything that would affect the rest of the site.
In the Theme Options the default layout is the one-column no-sidebar layout. I go to Widgets and add my Drag N Drop Widget (or my Cart widget) to the Main Sidebar and go to my Shop (products) page and choose Sidebar Template. Nothing happens. No sidebar. I’ve tried other widgets – nothing. However, I have been able to use a Footer to add a text widget to.
I have also tried WooSidebars. No luck there either. Does having the default layout be a no-sidebar layout mean I can’t have sidebars in my Woocommerce store?
Thanks, James. You are awesome. I suspected as much. Unfortunately, I did not build the site and have absolutely no say in the rest of the design, so I just have to deal with what is already there. There are so many obstacles already in the way it has been set up, starting with the terrible hosting company and the terrible hosting plan, and proceeding from there. I just have to do what I can in spite of the drawbacks.
At least I don’t have to bash my head against the wall trying to figure out a way around it.
