Can’t add calendar or items

In the back end of a site a work on, I could add calendars whenever and add items for each individual day on the free version of the plugin but now after an update, I see that I can’t do that anymore without it now telling me about the pro version. Doesn’t this completely negate the whole notion of a free version?

Anything can be done to get back the above mention functionality without buying the plugin?
