• hello,
When I try to activate the plugin WordPress Importer, I get the following error message:
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare wordpress_importer_init() (previously declared in /homepages/10/d26946708/htdocs/app543247651/wp-content/mu-plugins/wordpress-importer/wordpress-importer.php:1123) in /homepages/10/d26946708/htdocs/app543247651/wp-content/plugins/wordpress-importer/wordpress-importer.php on line 1217

any ideas on how to fic=x would be welcome.

Looks like the WordPress Importer is already installed as a MU plugin on the site. If you FTP in to the hosting server then delete the wordpress-importer folder inside of the mu-plugins folder in WP Content. Then you will be able to install WordPress Installer as a regular plugin.

Trying to activate this plugin on a new install. I have installed a theme and related plugins, next step is data from another instance. Attempting to activate the importer and get “Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class WXR_Parser in …/wp-content/plugins/wordpress-importer/parsers.php on line 12”

I’ve deleted from the dashboard as well as via FTP and reinstalled without success.

I’ve opened up the parser.php file and don’t see anything off but I am not fluent in php so that really isn’t surprising.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thank you.

Have you had any success? I am having the same problem!

    Please help

    Hello @fredweb24,

I did “kindof” resolve the issue but by switching to the twentyseventeen theme and then installing wordpress importer and then going back to the theme I intended to use. I think its a conflict in the theme’s own import and the wordpress plugin, I could be wrong but none the less, that workflow did allow me to install the importer.

Good luck, I hope that helps!
