I have just set up WorPress to work for MultiSite, but can’t access the dashboards of sub-folder blogs and the theme is not formated.

    My server is with godaddy.

    here is my .htaccess

    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /
    RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]

    # add a trailing slash to /wp-admin
    RewriteRule ^([_0-9a-zA-Z-]+/)?wp-admin$ $1wp-admin/ [R=301,L]

    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -f [OR]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -d
    RewriteRule ^ - [L]
    RewriteRule ^([_0-9a-zA-Z-]+/)?(wp-(content|admin|includes).*) home/content/57/7645457/html/websitesbyfrank/$2 [L]
    RewriteRule ^([_0-9a-zA-Z-]+/)?(.*\.php)$ home/content/57/7645457/html/websitesbyfrank/$2 [L]
    RewriteRule . index.php [L]

  • the solution here is to switch hosting service. Godaddy will not help. They need to modify httpd.conf but they won’t, so Apache won’t read all the commands in .htaccess necessary for WonrdPress to run multi-stie.

As it appears the site is not currently hosted at Go Daddy, we wouldn’t be able to assist directly, however, please know that we have many customers who successfully run their WordPress Multisites on our Linux hosting platform. If you do need help in the future, do not hesitate to contact us as we’d be more than happy to review as assist as best we can.
    Thanks.

I’m having the exact same problem. The multisite feature doesn’t work on godaddy as advertised. Godaddy did think it had something to do with my .htaccess file, but they wouldn’t go any further than that.

This is a copy of my .htaccess file.

    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /
    RewriteRule ^index\.php$ – [L]

    # add a trailing slash to /wp-admin
    RewriteRule ^([_0-9a-zA-Z-]+/)?wp-admin$ $1wp-admin/ [R=301,L]

    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -f [OR]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -d
    RewriteRule ^ – [L]
    RewriteRule ^([_0-9a-zA-Z-]+/)?(wp-(content|admin|includes).*) reviewmydentaloffice/$2 [L]
    RewriteRule ^([_0-9a-zA-Z-]+/)?(.*\.php)$ reviewmydentaloffice/$2 [L]
    RewriteRule . index.php [L]
