Support » Fixing WordPress » can’t access my private page

  • Hello
I’ve written a page and made it private, but now I can’t access that page, even when I’m logged in as admin. Its not listed in pages, and even typing its url goes to the error page. The only way I get to see it is through the admin CP

How can I access my private page please?

  • Hi,

If you are login as admin in the wordpress admin area then you can browse that private page and also able to view that. Kindly clear the cache of your browse and check with the post.

Thanks. I know I can view my private page in the admin area of course. My question is how to view it from outside, while logged in as admin, without having to go inside the admin area. Otherwise, what difference does it make if its a private page or draft. I want to be able to add commenets to my private page, to use it as a soft of private diary.
I thought private pages would be listed in the front page only for the admind to see. Its not so?

    help please?

    sorry, double post..

I’ve just tested setting up a private page on my test blog (default theme, no plugins active) and it isn’t being shown with the other Page links either. I can still access it directly by typing in the Permalink, there’s just no link to it from the blog itself.

Not sure if this is a bug or a ‘feature’. Seems like a weird feature though if Private Posts behave in the way you’d expect them to, but Private Pages don’t. Maybe I’m missing something?

Yes, in private posts the post is displayed when you’re logged in as admin. But in private pages they don’t display, and I even failed to access it by typing its url.
