    Hi Sarietyblog!

Are you running the W3 Total Cache plugin? If so, you can try to manually uninstall it with these instructions:

    https://www.shoutmeloud.com/how-to-delete-uninstall-w3-total-cache-wordpress-plugin.html

I have the same problem. I know I’m not supposed to jump on a thread but I can’t find where to start my own one?!

I don’t know if i’m stupid or clueless but I really have no idea what I’m doing. All I wanted to do was write a blog. I didn’t know going self hosted would cause so much aggrevation. And since migrating, my new posts won’t load without an error message anyways. This update locking me out of my dashboard is the final straw 🙁

Sorry to be a drama queen but I just want my blog back.

Can anyone please point me in the right direction?

I also cannot access my site after performing the update. I receive the following fatal error message. Can anyone assist, please?

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 41943040 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 3072 bytes) in /data/21/3/111/13/3274502/user/3654892/htdocs/wordpress1/wp-admin/includes/class-wp-site-icon.php on line 119

@sarietyblog Do you have w3 Total Cache installed? I was having the exact same problem on a couple of websites, then tried disabling the W3 Total Cache plugin before each upgrade and I was able to successfully upgrade wordpress. Re-enabled the w3 Total Cache plugin following the successful wordpress upgrade and everything worked fine. No need to uninstall w3 Total Cache completely.

I’ve got a similar issue. After the automatic update, I lost all my plugins and images. I’ve manually updated my header image, which worked. Other images won’t show, even when I manually update the images. Then, when I tried to manually add each plugin I lost, I get an error message that tells me the file address is there. Help! I’ve been messing with this for two days now, and I’m not getting anywhere. I’ve also sent two requests for support. Haven’t heard back yet on either one. So I’m posting here in the hopes of finding someone who can help me.

    Things I’ve tried…
Switching to Twenty Sixteen theme — didn’t work
Updating my theme files — didn’t work
Manually uploading new plugins and images — didn’t work
Re-installing Jetpack, which I suspect is also messed up.

Honestly, I’m out of options. When the site first crashed I got an error message on all my plugins, but now, I can’t find the messages. Also, where my stats should be in the admin bar, I get the same square as if it’s an image that couldn’t load.

I have a problem after 4.7 upgrade and now I can’t even get to my log in screen! Just get this fatal error ( I tried on several different computers.

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 41943040 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 30720 bytes) in /home/pcbcondo/public_html/wp-admin/includes/post.php on line 1568

    I’m lost. Mike Site http://pcbcondos4sale.com

Just wanted to let you all know I updated to 4.7 today and could access my wp-login.php screen, but once I entered my credentials and tried to login, I kept getting a http error 500 screen. My website was fine, but I could not access my dashboard. I DID have w3 cache installed and did not deactivate it before I updated. I followed the instructions to manually delete the plugin (Thank you @daniel-garrido) and now it is up and running fine. Hope that helps anyone else with this issue!!!

I have also faced the same issue. Updated my wordpress to 4.7 and now my dashboad is half empty. There are no options for “Pages, Plugins, Settings, Appearance and many more”

Please help! my website is http://www.mycityncr.com

Just chiming in to report that deactivating W3 Total Cache worked for me. I deactivated it, logged into the Admin, which prompted me to update the database. After that, I was able to reactivate W3 Total Cache without any more problems.

To deactivate W3 Total Cache, I:

    1. created a new folder in wp-contents (I named it “removed”, but it could be just about anything).

    2. dragged the “w3-total-cache” folder out of the “plugins” folder and into this new “removed” folder

    3. W3 Total Cache may have added some additional files directly in your wp-content folder (for my install, these were “advanced-cache.php,” “dp.php,” and “object-cache.php”) — I had to move these into the “removed” folder as well.

    4. Then I could access the admin area.

    5. When the database was updated, I moved the files/folder I had moved back into place.

    6. Finally, I had to go to the Admin Plugins page and reactivate W3 Total Cache

The exact same thing happened to me last night while working on a client’s site. I updated to the new version of WordPress, 4.7 and updated all plugins. Then I was no longer able to apply edits to the pages. Now whenever I try logging in I just get a blank white page. Which is weird, I’m still logged in to my WP account because there are the options for dashboard, edit page, etc., but not matter what I click on it just goes to another page and never loads.

Please note, I do not have the W3 cache tool and not sure how to disable plugins if I can’t access the back office unless there is a way through the FTP account and file manager. Either way, this was a huge mistake because like I said this is a client’s site that I’ve been working on for months and I’d hate to see all of that time and energy wasted on an update that was obviously not fully tested before its’ release.

And if it’s true about not being allowed to hop onto other threads then I do apologize, but this is a pretty serious matter that is seems to be occurring quite frequently and I’m sure we would all like answers on a way to resolve this issue.

    1. Rename plugin directory to plugins1
    2. login
    3. revert directory name.

Also depends on what webhosting you are with, they may have security configuration files installed on their servers which may cause login attempt problems. Check this with your webhosting provider.
